We have a manufacturing customer  which uses a large dot peen datamatrix (less than 50 characters only)    about 1 inch x 1 inch in size on a metal plate.   The rugged  DS3508-DP can easily ready it  but a General Purpose  Intermec SR30 was able to read it also. This makes the  DS3508 a very expensive option.  I was wondering if anyone have successfully  tried using the DS6708-DL/SR  or any other 2D scanner to read a 1'x1'  dotpeen datamatrix barcode on metal?
