Browser Print Software over VPN

I'm unable to use the browser print software over a VPN connection to a networked GX430t. I can ping the printer from the PC connected to the VPN, but the Browser Print settings menu cannot detect the printer.

I can print from Windows to the printer successfully if I install the driver on the PC and the PC prints normally when connected locally (without the VPN).

I'm not sure how the software detects the presence of the printer, but this seems to be what's causing me difficulty.

Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction, thanks!

Hi Kevin,Just to clarify, you

Hi Kevin,

Just to clarify, you have Browser Print running on the PC that is VPNed into the network? In the Browser Print settings, do you have the Broadcast Search box checked?

Correct. The PC is VPN'd into the network and Broadcast Search is enabled/checked. I can print to the printer using the Windows driver, but Browser Print will not detect the printer.

Hi Kevin,

Theoretically, this connection/discovery should be possible, but the PC's VPN connection and the printer have to be on the same subnet in order for Browser Print to discover the printer. Do you know if this is the case?

Samantha,Thank you that is

Samantha,

Thank you that is very helpful information! Unfortunately they are not on the same subnet. Is there any workaround for communicating with a printer on a different subnet?
