Hi we can create the account for Hotspot with start time and end time.

Is this account removed automatically after it expires?

I think the answer seems to be yes, based on my investigation.

Please let me know if this is wrong.

If yes, I do not know when the expired account is removed.

This does not seem to be removed at once expires, it seemed to take some time...

Your clarification would be greatly appreciated.

The accounts are assigned as guest , below is a sample from the config file. It expired June 30 but it was already July 2 then a reboot of the RFS, still it was not removed. user ojt password 0 ojt123 group hotspot guest expiry-time 13:31 expiry-date 06:30:2012 start-time 13:31 start-date 03:21:2012 btw, this is Arnold and not Sato-san

Kevin, the guest users are not deleted automatically under WiNG5. GRIP5216 is already created to address the request for implementation. Please check. Regards, Andreas

Hi, We will be resolving this in the upcoming WING 5.4 release. Regards, Sunalini

Under v4.x, Kevin is correct, though the 24 period is based on when the radius daemon was started, not 24hrs based on the user account creation....You can calculate the 24 hours based on the uptime of the controller....

The automatic user removal  seems not to work on Wing5.3.1 . Users expiraton date was June 30, 2012 yet it was still existing July 3. We tried to reboot the RFS  and the same user is still existing. Any workaround?  I do not want to lose the project to HP and Aruba just because we cannot automatically delete the expired users. If it would be possible to create a script to check/delete the expired users on the RFS config then create a crontab to do it every 23:59 .  Just need to be sure that an NTP server  is also set.

Sato San, Can you please verify that the user account is marked as guest? Regards, Kevin

This topic was generated 2010 and probably applicable to Wing4 only.   I am wondering if the 24hr guest account removal is still true on Wing 5  or we still have to manually delete the expired account?    We are competing with HP, Aruba and Cisco and customer says that their guest account are removed automatically once it expires.

As far as I am aware the accounts still get flushed every 24 hours. Regards, Kevin

Hello Sato-san,       The guest user accounts (only expired accounts) are deleted automatically every 24 hours. The 24 hours is not based off when the user account was created, but when the radius configuration daemon was started. The daemon is started when the switch boots, so you should be able to get an estimate of when accounts are deleted based off of the uptime on the switch. I hope this helps.

Hi Chris-san

Thank you for your clarification.

Now I understand how and when the account is deleted.

As I stopped and restarted radius daemon, the result was slightly different.

I can be back to the partner/customer.

BTW, if RFS is rebooted, my understanding is the daemon restarts.

So the account is deleted during the boot if RFS has the already expired account?

or deleted 24 hours later after the daemon starts? Regards.
