5) Clarify Case # 2304188 customer wishes to setup his customer's to reflash their devices using the Bootloader (IPL) process. As per attached manual, (integrators Guide (12429202a.pdf) page 4-11 (80/164)), states customer can load hex files by cold boot device then hold trigger to bootloader mode; then select download from SD card. As per manual this method will only load hex images. The Osupdate package on the support site contains hex images except for the OS image which is a bgz file. I searched but do not see any offering to download just hex images for the OS version. We need to supply the customer with an OS bgz file so their customer can reflash devices using this method. (3100c60BenOS021706.bgz) Please advise.

I only have the 512mb Flash device to test with but the hex file loaded successfully. Sending to customer. Thank you for  the assistance.

Yosi,  FYI had another case here with TA in EMEA case 2313281 were they used the USB download tool to reflash with IPL  and the OS BGZ failed with similar error. will it be considered for upcoming  MR MC3190 CE  to automatically post the needed OS HEX file. also for NO IST units like MC3190-GI2H02E0W    there should be some mentioning in RN that the IST HEX will not load  with error message if tried on this kind of units without IST

Thanks Herbert, We consider how to post the OS Hex format. About the IST, I think its in the RN already, I try to add it if not.

Thank you Yosi, This hex image will work with both configurations of the MC3190? (Revision A), with 128MB RAM and 512MB Flash. (Revision A.1) with 256MB RAM and 1GB Flash.

Yes, Let me know if you seeing any problem.

G Glenn Sobel

Unless otherwise instructed, Since this is an issue that is reproducible, I will open SPR regarding this issue.

Hi Glen, We are discussing this internally.  Yosi will get back to you on this once we decide how to proceed.  That should be shortly. Dave

Glenn, As Dave said we were discussing this issue. Here is a compass link to the OS in HEX format. This is the formal release, I also try it and it works fine for me. http://compass.mot-solutions.com/go/376826437  I already gave you the permission for it.

OK, I see the problem. Does the customer can reflash his devices via SD card applet and not via boot loader?

G Glenn Sobel

Yosi, The customer uses AppCenter to lock down the device so the end user can not access the OS to do an osupdate through the GUI. The end user will be at a store where they will not be connecting to a PC to use the USB Download application. For this reason, customer needs the bootloader SD card  option to work, to recover the device if device is experiencing an issue.

Is there a status on this? Customer is in testing phase of staging the demo devices for validation before purchasing the devices. He is getting anxious. Received email this morning. " I have two demonstration guns. One is the smaller memory footprint (Revision A), with 128MB RAM and 512MB Flash. The other is the larger memory footprint (Revision A.1) with 256MB RAM and 1GB Flash. We are planning on purchasing the Revision A.1 (256MB/1GB) gun. I have the OSUpdate packages (version 2.17.06) working on both versions of the gun, using the U1 for the Revision A, and UP for the Revision A.1. I need the OS Hex image for the Revision A.1, so that we can also use the IPL mode of installation. Any updates on this? " Need any status that I can pass to customer to set expectations without affecting pending purchase.

Glenn, There are two version of OS Version 2.17.06 1. 3100c60BenU1021706.zip - OS Update package for old HW configuration 2. 3100c60BenUP021706.zip - OS Update package for new HW. Please make sure you use the U1 image and not the UP. The old HW is 256 MB RAM/ 512 MB Flash, and the new one is 256MB RAM/1GB Flash.

Yosi, I was not able to test yesterday, working from home due to weather. my test device is MC3190-GI3H02EIU -

802.11 a/b/g, Bluetooth, Full Audio, Gun, 2D Imager SE4500, Color-touch display, 38 Key, High Capacity Battery, CE 6.0 Pro, 128MB RAM/512MB ROM, English, Interactive Sensor Technology,

Today I downloaded 3100c60BenU1021706.zip .. I copied the images in the images folder of the Osupdate to the sd card I install each of the images in the order as listed per response file 3100c60Ben.txt. ------------------------------------------------------- ;PartitionTable partition -t7 -fpartable_ce_rev_b_APP_RELOC.hex -s716 ;OBM partition -t13 -f3100c60XenOB01XX.hex -s69289 ;Monitor partition -t1 -f3100c60XenMO0115XX.hex -s294765 ;Platform partition -t4 -fCleanPlat.hex -s106 ;SplashScreen partition -t2 -f3100c60BenSC0217XX.hex -s13015 ;PowerMicro partition -t3 -f3100c60XenPM555811.hex -s46197 ;IST partition -t15 -f3100c60XenIS0114XX.hex -s39742 ;OS partition -t0 -f3100c60BenOS021706.bgz -s23667338 ------------------------------------------------------- All files loaded successfully except for the OS bgz file (3100c60BenOS021706.bgz). I get the same error "Partition 525312 is not valid on this device". Please advise/confirm  if I am doing anything wrong or if there is an issue with loading the OS bgz file.

Y Yoseff Zlotnick

Glenn, The release OS come in *.bgz format, which is compressed HEX file. Can you try it on customer site? Replace the bgz in HEX might required changes in the partiion table file, and probably some other files.

G Glenn Sobel

Yosi, I tried to load the bgz on my device but it will not work. Get following error "Partition 525312 is not valid on this device" it will not install.
