ES400S support for Barcode 39

Does the ES400S support Barcode Font 39?   If so, is anything special needed?  I have a customer who is unable to scan his company barcodes.  He 'believes' they are "39".  The ES400 is able to scan UPC codes - so nothing wrong with the device.   Is there a list of Barcode Fonts the ES400S will scan?

I just tried the barcode you provided.  It is code39 alright.  There is nothing wrong with the ES400/DataWedge either.  The problem seems to be in the amount of data encoded in the barcode.  There are 28 characters in the barcode and that is too long for the ES400 camera to decode.  When I used another device with a laser scanner, I was able to scan the barcode.  Cameras are not built for scanning lengthy barcodes. This is my opinion and I am not an expert in optimizing the barcode.  You can still contact the support team and see if they can help you futher.

To add a slight observation...not too many characters; however, more of a physical limitation.  The ES400 can decode code 39; however this particular sample is too long to physically fit within the window of opportunity for the camera.  To allow the code to fit within the scan window one has to increase the distance from the reader to the label; however, this distance is beyond the specification for the ES400.  Just my observation!!

You can post the file here and I will check if it is a valid barcode.  If the issue is not barcode related, you will need to open a case with the support team.  They will identify the source of the issue (device configuration, drivers or DataWedge) and get the appropriate teams involved.

Just used BSP31.2 and DataWedge (Rev A1 candidate) to read the WIKIPEDIA bar code from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Code_39. Check this.

Attached you will find an example of the barcode in quesiton.

Yes - I have requested a copy of the barcode to be sent to me.  When I get it, whom should I contact?

ES400 supports Code39 and it should be enabled by default.  How is the customer scanning the barcode?  His/her app or DataWedge?

DataWedge was being used.   Barcodes are 28 position in approx  1/4" x 3/4" area.

Would you be able to get a copy of the barcode they are using?  We will be able to tell in 2 secs if the barcode is valid or not.
