Hi What do you think about add RFS4010/AP650 in a Working WS2000/AP300 infrastructure? Is it a good practice to mix WS2000/AP300 with RFS4000/AP650? Can they coexist in the same network?. Should I replace all the WS2000 with RFS4000 and leave the AP300 or I have to replace all the AP300 too? I have 4 WS2000 and 20 AP300. What happens if I add 1 RFS4010 and 3 AP650? Actually, I have configured each WS2000 to adopt 5 AP300 (MAC address) They are all in the same Subnet and I don´t use the WAN port. I don´t want to have roaming problems or conectivity issues. The MU´s (MC9190) are working fine in the WS2000/AP300 environment. We are using a Web Application wich is accessible from IE in the MU. I need to cover some new places with WIFI, but I don´t have no more AP300 because they are discontinued. The WS2000 can not adopt AP650, so I need to buy RFS4010 for example. Regards, Pablo

Hi Jared So I need to buy the AAP licenses?

A Arsen Bandurian

Exactly. They are sold in packs of 6.

Hello, Jared,  Please, clarify, AP0650 comes from WiNG5, if so, it's adoption by RFS requires only AAP licence?
That is correct.

OK, for a mixed invirinment where WING4 and WING5 AP's should coexist, lets say AP300 and AP650 on RFS6000 running 4.4.1, lineced as 16 AP + 16 AAP, will AP650 use AAP licenses?

Hi I have RFS4010 upgraded to WiNG 5.4 I am testing what you said before about the AAP licenses. I attached 7 AP650 and only see 6 Online and 1 offline. I go to Configuration - Devices - rfs4000-1BE432 - Licenses and this is what I see: Licenses AAP Adoptions 0 AAP Licenses 0 AP Adoptions 6 AP Licenses 6 Apply Licenses AP Licenses:  DEFAULT-6AP-LICENSE Adaptive AP Licenses: Advanced Security:  DEFAULT-ADV-SEC-LICENSE Advanced WIPS Licenses: How can I do to enable the 36 AAP Licenses with AP-0650-60010WW?

Q.  " I attached 7 AP650 and only see 6 Online and 1 offline." A.  Your 7th AP is offline because you have only 6 AP licenses. Q.  " How can I do to enable the 36 AAP Licenses with AP-0650-60010WW?" A.  Load AAP licenses on your RFS4000.  You currently have none.

Well, now I have 3 excedent RFS4010 for the implementation I will going to do.

Pretty sure :) The adoption limites were upped for WING5 with WiNG5 APs (i.e. no AP300/AP5131/etc). Look at the datasheet or check with your local supplier (TA/Distributor/Integrator). http://www.motorola.com/web/Business/Products/Wireless%20LAN%20Devices/W...

Yes, the RFS4000 can adopt up to 36 AAPs in WiNG 5.  The important consideration here is that this scalability is supported when using WLANs in local bridging mode - not tunneled.  If you are tunneling the WLANs to the RFS4000, the officially supported number of access points on this platform is still 6. The key difference in these scalability numbers in WiNG 4 vs. WiNG 5 is that all 802.11n APs in WiNG 5 are adaptive APs.  As a result all the 802.11n APs in WiNG 5 can use AAP licenses, and therefore you can load up a controller to its AAP adoption scalability limits.  This is only supported when the WLANs these AAPs are servicing are being locally bridged.  While AP621s are dependent, they are also adaptive.  AP621s can perform services at the edge including local bridging of user traffic.  AP300s are dependent and non-adaptive.

Pablo, WS2000 has limited AP capability (6 APs), same with RFS4000 with AP300. The best thing you could do is to migrate everything to WiNG5 with RFS4000+AP621/622 (single/dual radio). The price is quite similar to WS2000/AP300 combo, but the features are much better. With WiNG5 a single RFS4000 can support up to 36 AP621/622/650, so you can replace all your 4 switch systems with one, creating nice and smooth coverage for roaming, SMART-RF and everything else.

Hi arsen Are you sure RFS4010 can adopt up to 36 Dependant Access Port like AP0621/622?
