RS507 ==> Imager Mode

Hi,

I'm working with the Ring Scanner 507 (RS507). This RS is connected to my device using bluetooth.

Based on the Simple serial interface programmer's guide (SSI : ref 72E-40451-03 Revision A from May 2015), I'm able to switch to Image mode the RS.

I'm also able to take a picture with this ring...

But, because the default baudrate is 9600, it takes about 15 to 20 seconds to get the image on the handhel device with whom is associated (in bluetooth) the device.

My question is pretty much simple ==> How can I change the Baudrate.

I know I can send command to change settings

The PARAM_SEND command is for that, BUT there is no information concerning how to change the baudrate (code, etc...)

So, HOW can I achieve this ?

I'm sure there might be one guy, one girl over there working for Zebra on the RS who is able to provide the correct answer...
Don't be shy, do it

Thanks, Nicolas

Hi Tsu Beng,

After research, Android relies on RFComm which doens’t care of the baudrate
because it is fixed by the connected device. In other words,

It has to be set on the connected device.

If it’s not possible to change to baudrate on the RS, then it can’t be done
nowhere else.

Guess I’m stuck with this 9600 baudrate on the RS.

What I don’t understand is : why provide a image mode (which works on the
RS) if the transmission rate is so poor that it can’t really

Be of any help due to transfer time ?

By default, RS is 9600 baudrate, but I suppose that the electronical serial
component used may do better than this. Why not

Allowed people to change it ?

Nicolas

Hi Nicolas,

We have go through some investigation and the Baud rate of Bluetooth Radio could not be change.
Btw, may I know how you change the Host Radio Baud rate ?
As we understand, you will required the same baud rate for host and scanner to work.

Thanks.Tsu Beng

HI Tsu Beng

Well in fact, I am not changing the baudrate because I connect through
bluetooth my RS to my device which is running under Android.

So, I don’t deal with any rate currently.

But, if there is a way to change the baudrate in Android, I’m sure I will
give a try to see if the RS can adapt by itself its transmission rate.

Just one more day before I’m home to test this J

Thanks

Nicolas
