Sencha Touch 2 Kitchen Sink and RhoElements

Hi,

I'm trying to make the Kitchen Sink example from Sencha Touch 2 download package to run on ES400 and MC75A, using rhoElements v1.

I need to do that to assess Sencha's performance on Windows Mobile 6.5 with RhoElements.

So far I cannot make it work. As a matter of fact, none of the Sencha's examples work. They work on my PC, using local IIS.

Can somebody, please, advise if any additional steps have to be taken to run Sencha's examples?

Thanks.

Hi Yuriy,Please hold off from

Hi Yuriy,

Please hold off from testing Sencha on Windows mobile until we have released 1.0.3.11 (any day now going through the release process). In this version we have made several improvements regarding performance. Generally speaking Sencha has been quite a bit heavy, although I have not looked at their latest release yet.

Regards

Rob Galvin

OK,I've tried the new version

OK,

I've tried the new version with no success. I'm not trying to run Kitchen Sink application anymore, but just a simple list from Sencha examples. I've tried to run it via the RhoElements local web server and from the file (with the web server switched on and off). The farthest I could get was starting the example from the local file with the web server switched off. The device displayed the list with the spinning circle (hourglass) on top. The list's functionality didn't work.

The example is included in Sencha Touch 2 deployment package.

I can send the RhoElements log file, if needed.

Here's the relevant part of the log:

Rob,I did try the online demo

Rob,

I did try the online demo of Kitchen Sink. Unfortunately, the result is similar - white screen with spinning wheel. I had a little bit more success with other Sencha Online Demos, like Kiva or TouchTweets, but all of them are not fully functional.

Rob, I'd tried the sencha

Rob, I'd tried the sencha public link on MC65 and ES400. Once it hits the web site the screen turns blank and the cursor spining endlessly. The site does, however, render properly on an ET1.  If you tap the screen during the endless cursor spin the device will lock-up.   I've tried modifying the config.xml file and pointed the startpage to the site. I've also simple taken config.xml file and turned on debug then manually navigated to:   http://dev.sencha.com/deploy/touch/examples/production/kitchensink/  If you could quickly test this scenario and provide feedback, please. I'd like to get your opinion before opening a helpdesk ticket.  Thanks!

Rob and I have conferred and

Rob and I have conferred and found that Sencha Touch 2 Kitchensink is heavily loaded with content, hence making WinMo devices run out of memory.   There are other 3rd party styling libraries one can use such as jqMobi  http://jqmobi.com/testdrive/, which appears to be lightweight and fast. jQueryMobile should also work well.   In addition to the above there are many more:

http://www.iui-js.org/

http://www.winktoolkit.org/

http://zeptojs.com/

http://www.dhtmlx.com/touch/

http://joapp.com/

http://the-m-project.org/

and the following was brought to my attention by Yuriy.

Thanks, Peter, I think,

Thanks, Peter, I think, regarding the framework I mentioned, you meant http://www.kendoui.com/.

Good lists and the ability to data bind are probably the most important features for us.

KendoUI seems to be strong enough in both areas (there's some support for Knockout framework there), and also light enough.

I hope to share some results within a week.

JoApp looks interesting.

Yuriy, thanks for catching

Yuriy, thanks for catching that... sticky clipboard.  Please do share with us your findings on any 3rd party libraries. I'm certain it will help this community save valuable time.

Thank you, Rob. I will try it

Thank you, Rob. I will try it with the new release. We realize that Sencha is heavy, but we would like to assess whether the performance is acceptable for our purposes.
