Push Notifications

Since Google Market/Play is not permitted on the Motorola Enterprise Android and, therefore, C2MD is not an option for PUSH notifications; what is the alternative for implementing PUSH for native Android applications (needed for native applications and not Rho application in my particular situation)?

Any word on this?

I would assume if a core feature such as PUSH notifications with which Android developers is familiar is negated (indirectly disabled due to the lack of C2MD support), that at least a work-around is available (or at least a suggested alternative method).

I am working on designing a application now that needs native support and PUSH is a critical part. Please advise before developers such as myself start "rolling our own" potentially in conflict of Motorola supported/suggested design patterns.

Hi Darren,

the basic idea is that an enterprise tool like the ET1 is not to be managed through GoogleID. Good or bad decision, this is what MSI put on the ET1 after talking with our customers.

And yes you loose C2MD, that is now deprecated by Google, as the new shiny Google technology for push is now GCM.

but there're a lot of technologies that can be used for this and that you can control in&out:

I hope that this helps in your development effort.
