Cold/hard/clean rebooting/resetting an MC70

I can't find these Clean and Blank utilities for the MC70 I've heard talk of.  Help please!  I need to hard reset this MC70.  Holding down 1 and 9 and the power key doesn't do it.  Holding down the power key for 5 seconds doesn't do it.  Pressing the button underneath the battery (and in conjunction with the power key) doesn't work.  Pretty much everything I read at http://www.mainsystem.de/html/mc70_kaltstart.html doesn't work.  That's the best site I've found.  It says I  need software from devcentral.symbol.com but isn't more specific than that.  Does anyone anyone please know how to clean/cold reboot an MC70?  I feel embarrassed I even have to ask.

Thanks so much.

The files you mentioned are

The files you mentioned are actually OS images - you may need them if you want to upgrade your MC70 with the latest OS release.

To perform just a clean boot you need files and procedures located here

http://support.symbol.com/support/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=10299&sliceId=&dialogID=12360613&stateId=0%200%20539263

or go to support.symbol.com and perform search on "MC70 clean boot".

The UpdateLoader package for

The UpdateLoader package for each OS release contains the necessary components to perform a clean boot.  StartUpdLdr.exe, pkgs.lst and CleanPS.bin.  Pkgs.lst needs to be changed (in notepad or another text editor) so that CleanPS.bin is the only item listed.  Then these three files can be placed onto an SDCard and inserted into a terminal.  Navigate to the SDCard in File Explorer and launch StartUpdLdr.  The terminal will then perform a clean boot.

I find its better practice to copy the files in the \Temp folder and then running the StartUpldr.exe file so that once its complete, the files are gone and the files are not accidentally left around for a user to hose his/her device in the field with.

One thing to note about the

One thing to note about the Clean and Blank for the MC70 is that is it simply a rehashed version of the MC9090 one. So it includes the MC9090 .id file rather than an MC70 one.

I asked about this in a post last year, but no response in 8 months!

The architecture between the

The architecture between the 9090 and MC70 are so similar that I am sure with in Part Numbers its pretty much the same stuff.

The files used to "clear" the

The files used to "clear" the application folder are different between the MC70 and MC9090 product families.  The files required to perform the clean boot and clear are in process of being posted to support central and should be available by the end of this week.

This is for mc9090 with CE 5

For other devices go here and download the "device configuration package"

use the DCP to generate the Hex files then boot to the IPL menu and from there you can load them to get back to "factory defaults" (i'm assuming this is what you mean by "cleanboot")
