Scanner APIs for MC40

Hi,

I'm developing some software (in Java) for the MC40 and would benefit from having fine control over the scanner (changing symbologies and lengths, etc on-the-fly).

I found this thread about the ET1, which suggests that the only options available are Rho and DataWedge:

https://developer.motorolasolutions.com/message/5217#5217

The former isn't applicable here, and the latter doesn't provide the level of control, although that is what I'm using at the moment.

Can I make direct use of the APIs that Rho and DataWedge are using?  If so, is there documentation on them?

Regards,

Ian Darling

Hi,The post you've linked to

Hi,

The post you've linked to is accurate, the only ways of accessing the Scanning APIs on MC40 and ET1 are via RhoMobile Suite or DataWedge.  I've never had a play with DW on Android but I'm surprised that it doesn't offer the level of control such as changing symbologies on the fly.

Darryn.

Hi Darryn,I came to that

Hi Darryn,

I came to that conclusion about DataWedge based on the fact that symbology options are handled via the preconfigured profile, and that example code referenced and documentation in the ET1 integrators guide makes no reference to parameters for changing profiles programmatically via the Intent mechanism.  If I'm wrong about this I could really do with being pointed at the relevant information.

Ian,Please visit https:/

Ian,

Please visit https://developer.motorolasolutions.com/community/technologies/mobile_computing/datawedge for additional information on DataWedge.

You could use DataWedge API's to switch between profiles dynamically which might address some of your concerns.

Anu
