when developing applications for mobile computers in Visual Studio, it's often useful to use device emulator, so you don't need real device. Visual Studio comes with several emulators for various platforms and displays, with as WM6. But when developing with EMDK, the problem is that those emulators don't have Symbol devices, so any attempt to debug on them an application using Symbol device, such as barcode scanner for example, fails. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7773908/unable-to-use-emdk-for-net is an example.
Is there a solution to this problem? I expected that perhaps EMDK supplied additional emulators, same as it inserts Symbol controls in the toolbox in VS, but it does not seem to be the case.
Unfortunately EMDK doesn't have an emulator or plugins to the WM6 sdk emulator. You'll have to target the device in order to test EMDK APIs. Some folks remark out calls to these APIs while testing on WM6 emulator, then clear the remarks and test EMDK APIs directly on the device.
