in a Rhodes/RhoElements application, you have the Sync Notify callback that is called by the RhoConnect Client at different steps of the sync process:
In this callback you can use the @params["status"] to know the status of the current sync process: “in_progress”, “error”, “ok”, “complete”, “schema-changed”

Pietro's answer will let you know how to know that the sync process is complete. Also, you do not need to start the sync on a separate thread, because it is an asynchronous process, you can start it anywhere and not need to worry about blocking a thread.
