Last week James Swinton-Bland, Darryn Campbell & Rabeb Othmani (Bibi) had the privilege to once again represent Zebra at Droidcon London 2019.

The event drew over 2000 attendees over the course of two days and consisted of a range of presentations, panels and sponsored booths – from talks on Android Studio to Kotlin Coroutines.

It was great to speak with so many existing and prospective Zebra developers at our booth and we were able to demonstrate a selection of our Android mobile devices as well as our Printing and Scanner ranges.

Seeing many familiar faces from previous Droidcons it was nice this year to be able to demonstrate our newly released Savanna data services platform with cloud-to-print functionality.  As always, we got a great deal of feedback during the event that we’ll be taking to our product development teams – so look out for some new features soon.

Towards the end of the first day Zebra’s Software Architect, Darryn Campbell, had a chance to present his talk on “Designing an Intent-based API” describing why Zebra are moving towards the DataWedge Intent model to expose our client-side APIs.  Darryn drew a packed audience and it was helpful to see the interest in DataWedge as well as hearing some feedback on others’ experience transitioning to an Intent-based model.

Following on from our success in London we’ll be sponsoring two more Droidcons in 2019: San Francisco & Tel Aviv:  You’ll be able to find us in San Francisco at the Mission Bay conference center on the 25th & 26th of November.  If you can’t make it to San Francisco, we’ll be in Tel Aviv for the 19th December at the Cinematheque in the city.

We’re really looking forward to an exciting 4th quarter of 2019 and we hope to see some of you at our upcoming events!
