Hello,

We are trying to set up the "SendfiletoPrinter" for our Android devices. We have generated the enrollment string from Zebra dev portal, later followed the below steps,

  • Download the Printer Setup app from the Google Play Store (We are using Android).
  • Store the Weblink configuration string as a file on the mobile device.
  • Launch the Printer Setup app and connect to the printer
  • Click on Available Files option and navigate to the location where the file is stored.
  • Select the file and click on Send to Printer.

After performing the above steps, the enrollment string got printed from the zebra printer. We don't see the connected devices in the Zebra dev portal. When we make the senfile printer api call, we are getting 404 (Assets not registered) error. What we are doing wrong is not clear because we don't see the zebra printer in the connected devices in dev portal. Please let me know if we are doing anything wrong.

Thanks.

What's the printer model? Only Link-OS printers support the SendFileToPrinter API. Before sending the enrollment string to the printer with the Printer Setup app, please make sure the Device Language on the printer is set to ZPL, or XML and ZPL. If the Device Language is Link Print, the printer will print the enrollment string instead of using the enrollment string to configure the weblink. You can use the Printer Setup app to confirm and configure the Device Language.

Thanks for the reply. We are using the ZQ521 printer and i'ts a Link-OS printer. We kept the Device Language as Zpl and tried with different Emulation options, getting "Communication error" (Error writing to connection: One or more errors occurred, broken Pipe). We restarted the printer, still it doesn't work, the added device is not showing in the portal.

We are sending the below JSON file into Printer Setup utilities using Android phone (Phone and Zebra printer are connected through Bluetooth).

{}{ "weblink.logging.max_entries":"500", "weblink.ip.conn1.location":"https://savanna-device.zpc.zebra.com/weblink/connect?r=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX", "device.reset":"1" }

I am not sure what we are doing wrong.

Thanks for the reply. We are using "ZQ521" printers and it's a Link-OS printer.

Yes, we tried with the Device Language as XML and ZPL and sent the enrollment string (tried with Json file as well as text file) to printer setup app and got the communication error (Error writing to connection: One or more errors occurred (Broken Pipe)). We restarted the printer after getting the error, still it's not working and not showing the connected devices in the dev portal. We tried with Emulation as None as well as other options, still got the same error. I am not sure what we are doing wrong.

Can you try with a different Android device? Sounds like there are some issues with the Bluetooth connection from the Android device.
