Hello,
I am using DS2278 with RS-232 interface connected to a Linux machine. I am wodering, if there si some simple way to confirm the reception of the data sent by the DS reader to computer port - for example to send some command from PC to reader and it will beep 3 times or something like that, so I can inform the operator, that the code was sucesfully recieved by the computer.
I am using Node-Red enviroment, so some code in Javascript would help. Thanks.

using std RS232 protocol you can use BEL command (ASCII Value 007) to make scanner beep once , or send it three times to make it sound three times .
You have to enable BEEP on BEL parameter on the scanner under RS232 interface section . Page 214 from following link

Other option you have is to use SSI Serial protrocol from Zebra which allow full control of the scanner . check guide Simple Serial Interface Programmer’s Guide (en) (zebra.com)
