Enterprise Browser and IndexDb

Our clients are replacing all MC9090 with MC92No running Android KitKat. The MC9090s run on Windows Mobile and compiled VB code. The original code uses data tables to store and retrieve data in xml format and save as local files. The data is uploaded/download via a SOAP web service. We are tasked to replace the system and install on the MC92No. Since Windows Mobile is no longer supported, we are planning on rewriting the VB code as html/JS pages and hosting them in the Enterprise Browser. In order to duplicate the functionality of the database, we have the choice of using WebSQL which is deprecated or use indexDb which is still supported. I have some success in saving data in indexDb and have found indexDB somewhat supported in EB 1.8. Here are a few specific questions of concern:

  • Is there any advantage of running EB 2.0 or higher and what are the advantages?
  • Is it advisable to use indexDb. If so, which version of EB will support all the methods of indexDb?
  • Is there any licensing difference or limitation. We have already purchased the license for EB 1.8 for each scanner.

I appreciate any help I can get from this community. Thank you so much!
