All, We are looking at a next generation phone and wondering: * What percentage of your customers use the Fingerprint Sensor on ES400? * How your customers view the value and functionality of this feature? * How would the attach rate change if APIs were provided to use the Fingerprint sensor? I have been told no one is using the Fingerprint sensor. Please let me know if this is the case (or not.) Joe B.

Joe Many of the Abbott field techs use the finger print reader to log into their phones. in large part this is a safety feature ..its much safer to unlok th phon with the reader than ntering a pinwhile driving

Joe,  I agree with Paul's comments on this i.e. the use of the fingerprint reader on the ES400 is limited by the lack of a supported API. I would recommend keeping this as a feature of the next-gen product because it is a great differentiator against our competition and provides additional security for customers who have sensitive data on their device or servers. Joe, It would have been used if BU had supported API's to allow ISV's/Developers to use.  We did submit GRIP requests etc..  Customers did request 'how do we use' - but response was we do not support this via any API's. Finger print reader could have been a good differentiator. Why supply a feature and do not allow ISV's/customers to use? - via supported API's - Why? The OS shell features supply very limited features/useability with regards to finder print reader/IST IST API also falls into this i.e. present but not supported - even though API is VERY similar to MPA 2 IST API. In future yes, these are good features to have - but unless supported by BU/engineering worthless. Just my thoughts.
