Help with Global Build on MC75A0 using AppCenter

Are any TA's using AppCenter on non-English OS ?

I have a customer that wants to deploy MC75A0’s globally. They are having a couple of issues. If they deploy a standard US build it will not work properly in certain countries. The issue is with languages like Chinese that uses double byte characters. OK, so the next step was to use localized OS packages. They display the menus correctly. If the application is loaded stand alone it works, but there are issues when using AppCenter (and maybe SymScript…but I am sure that they are not using that because it is not supported…) According to Support AppCenter is English only. Are any of you using a locking program that would support global languages? (AppCenter does not recognize the directory structure of other languages.)

Any guidance is appreciated

Great information, thanks all

Yes -of course-, using AppCenter in another language is somewhat "tricky". Especially regarding system folder names, such as "Program files" (which in Spanish turns to be "Archivos de programa"). One has to manually edit the cfg file to fix this. Thank God there is a powerful text editor called vi which can help you pretty much on this. Or Notepad++ too.

By the way, cab installer can -must, actually- also be edited to move from "English" names to local. For this, WinCE CAB manager (from OCP Soft) can do the job very well!

the default appcenter cab file distributed on support  has difficulties to be installing the LNK files correclty on localized OS versions. However on request the cabfiles can be changed to have localized LNK and CPY path's changed, either through techsupport or through Appcenter Program Mgr from Odyssey direclty while ago Odyssey was asked to have this looked at and that future Appcenter version will use the MS standardized agreed CE locale pathnames, but it seems that is not an priority

Thanks Herbert , So there is no other lockout option that is used globally? I do have a case opened and Odyssey is looking at this again so maybe it will be addressed.
