As the subject says, I've written an app that runs on the TC series of barcode scanners, but have a customer who would like to use a physical keyboard when working in industrial freezers, so I'm investigating what needs to be done. 

So basically, how does it work? Does it replace the soft keyboard when entering text in EditText? Does it generate keypress events that I can handle in an activity? How does selection of options in dropdowns work? Is there an onscreen pointer that can be used to simulate touchscreen taps?

Any guidance (or links) would be much appreciated.
