Hi All, A partner wants to use an LS2208 or similar to connect directly to a keyboard that is then attached to a Printer (the keyboard is a special keyboard that has a small display and is used to drive the printer). They have a very cheap alternative scanner that has a PS/2 cable with a single connector that works, but they have tried a couple of our cables and some config changes, but nothing has worked except if you connect a further PC keyboard onto our cable's second PS/2 connector - which means there are now two keyboards attached to the printer.... Any ideas?
PS/2 is there a Non-Y cable? or can I use Y cable without keyboard?// Expert user has replied. |

Thanks Ken, but this is a Sato printer with a special keyboard that has a built-in display. I seem to rememember there being a single ended PS/2 cable from a long time ago, I guess the device needs to be more of a keyboard terminator, rather than a wedge.
There was a synapse for use with a laptop. The part number was STI80-0264 however this was discontinued back in 2006. Depending on how many you require you could always send a mail to spares.orders@motorolasolutions com as they may have one hidden away.
Cheers Justin
Stephen, Is this a Zebra KDU printer? If so, I ran into this a few years ago at one of my customers. The Zebra KDU has a serial port that accepts a barcode scanner. We used our CBA-R36-C09ZAR cable which pulls power from the KDU's serial port. You’ll also need the Zebra KDU Adapter cable (null modem...not sure of the Zebra p/n) and a Gender Changer adapter. We used an LS4208 with the KDU and had to configure an intercharacter delay because the scanner was sending data too fast for the KDU and we also had to append an ENTER after the barcode data. See attached sheet for configuration. Thanks, Ken
