What solution can we recommend to charge the ET1 in a vehicle for field services operations.

As per Hans Brodit do have a few options available. Alternatively you could consider http://www.targus.com/au/product_details.asp?sku=APV11AU and use the power suppliy that comes with the ET1. And the other option of course is just to carry a fully charged spare battery.
There is a 3rd party manufacturer that has a cradle, search google.
