All, Is it possible to stop the MC17 playing the chiming noise on startup? Our partner has tried deleting and renaming the WAV file being played however it reappears after a cold boot. Thanks IJ

No. It is a system issue and the noise is because of fusion radio interaction (noise will go off if radio is turned off when system starts). This is a known issue noted in PEB also.

Hi Ian/Venky, Please reference the link below for proper adjustment of volume settings on the MC17 http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms940081.aspx For example, creating a registry file(.REG extension placed in \Application) with the following entries below disables sounds of all key clicks and screen taps, and enables only application sounds: : [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Volume] "Mute"=dword:00000002 "Key"=dword:00000000 "Volume"=dword:55555555 "Screen"=dword:00000000 Regards, Tim
