Does anyone have any documents which adddress the question below Internally, we have been discussing the potential of switching to the new DS3478, and ran into a big issue regarding Bluetooth. Our network management is concerned that the Bluetooth 2.4 GHz frequency will interfere with our 802.11b/g devices (primarily thin clients with PCI NIC cards) that the scanners are connected to. The issue is that the Bluetooth signal will cause a disconnection of the wireless network session, basically causing more problems. Is there someone we can speak to at Motorola that can help us engineer around this issue?

Hi Marc, I am hoping that when you say the "new DS3478" you mean the DS3578. If this is the case then the DS3578 has a feature in the BT radio called Adaptive Fequency Hopping (AFH). With AFH the BT radio will hop around (instead of through) the 802.11b/g high rate channels. A maximum of 66 MHz of spectrum can be occupied the 802.11b/g wireless network. Even under these conditions, the AFH would detect or "sniff" interference on 66 of the 79 available frequencies, and operate on the remaining 13 available channels.The attached Technical Brief gives a good overview of the AFH and interference distance of BT signal.
