true, but this is not a 3rd party. it is a part of our installation. http://support.symbol.com/support/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=k…...
Doesn't change the fact that this is a third party add-on. If cold boot persistence is required, then a GRIP request is necessary. You're changing the default functionality.
If you look into the /Application folder of the MC9090 CE (or MC30XX CE) after fresh install you will notice directory SMB and inside SYMBOL_CE5.0_SERVER.CAB. You still view it as a 3rd party?
What is SAMBA server?
SMB (Server Message Block) protocol. SAMBA is the server supporting this protocol. Basically it is a way to mount non-windows file system on windows machine. Our CE5.0 devices support SAMBA and I install it successfully on MC9090 CE5, but can not make it boot persistent.
Supporting cold boot persistence for a 3rd party is really up to the 3rd party. The server company would have to create an install that can be saved into Application, etc. Other options are if this is a cab file, just to re-install on cold boot.
