Hi, Not sure if anyone has played with or loaded X-Button. X-Button is a tool developed by HTC that enables the "X button" to really close programs. (Rather than having memory run in the background). It seems to have worked well in 6.0 but there are issues with 6.1 in that it doesn't actually close the program properly.
(We used x-button 1.5, or taskmanager 2.0 by HTC. There is also another app called Quickmenu that's been tried but it doesn't really offer us the perfect solution).
Just wondering if anyone knows of any other apps or any HotKey mods that work with 6.1 we could try. CheersHarry

You may need to be careful about how you try to alter the normal Windows Mobile behavior. Whilst it is possible to make forms (screens) other than then Main Form operate this way, doing so on the Main Form will cause the application to exit. This may not be what the programmer was expecting. This x = Close/ x = Exit behavior is decided by the application programmer. It is just a property of the Form that they choose when constructing an application. To get this behavior to work you correctly, you really neeed to go back to the application programmer and ask them to change it there. Doing this any other way is trying to modify the default behavior of Windows Mobile which we need to be very careful about supporting or suggesting. Richard LH
I did find an application that works for 5.0 and 6.0 I did not try it on 6.1. After installation it changed the X buttion to a Close button. Its called Magic Button: by TranCreative. Other instructions:
To unload (shutdown) Magic Button: Tap and hold on Close button, then tap and hold on Home icon.
To show/hide the taskbar: tap and hold the OK/Minimize/Close button.
To show the application menu that has Settings and Exit menu items: tap and hold Today (Home) icon when it is visible.
Map a PocketPC application button to Magic Button software then you can show/hide the bar easier by pressing the button.
To close an individual window: tap and hold its window icon on the task bar.
To change Close Button behavior (Close instead of Minimize) for an application: tap and hold on the app icon and select "Keep Alive" option.
Another option is a small utility called smclose ( http://freewareppc.com/utilities/smclose.shtml) which just needs to be run once during startup and subsequently changes the default action of the X button from minimise to close. Ian Hatton EMB EMEA
