I have a customer who is resistant to using app center. They would like to either eliminate the taskbar at the bottom of the screen or remove the wireless status / config ICON from the screen Any ideas??

How about the view option: "Full Screen"?

The taskbar at the bottom of the WM6 screen isn't a taskbar.  Technically, it's a command bar.  The taskbar is at the top of the screen in WM6 as it is with all WM OS versions.  The taskbar is at the bottom of the screen in the CE OS versions. There is no way to automatically hide that command bar or task bar in WM 6.  The task bar can be hidden in CE 5.0 with a registry setting. Programmatically, doing a FindWindow() on the class "HHTaskBar" and sending it a WM_CLOSE or resizing it to 0 will also work on either CE or WM OS's.  The application that is being run can also resize itself to cover that area, but that is an application detail. To remove the Radio Status / Launch you can go into \Windows\Startup and remove the shortcut that launches that application.
