Hi team, Are we able to read a barcode which is lying behing the film which passes only infrared light? Are able to do this with a laser and/or imager? Do we have any kind of filter in our imagers which prevents IR waves from going to the sensor? Attached is a picture from the customer illustrating the proposed application. Thanks, Valery

Hi Valery, Since the barcode is behind a filter that only allows IR, laser scanners and anything with SE4500 (Blockbuster) in it will not work. So you might try an imager product (like the DS6700) prior to the SE4500 engine and see if it works. The range and performance may not be that good because we are relying on the IR content from the ambient light.
What we would really need to scan these barcode aggressively is a custom product with IR illumination. The same thing would apply to UV barcodes. We have prototypes with UV illumination to decode the UV barcodes.
Try out the LS-4208 or LS-3008. The rastering laser does a really awesome job on low-contrast barcodes. I have had success reading "security badges" that may be close to this scenario with black barcodes on a red background.
