Hi, I am looking for more details on how the MSP Agent startup process is running. It seems the time to start it up after cold boot is never the same sometimes 60 sec, sometimes 90 sec... Is it possible to have the MSP Agent starting in silent mode, not taking the focus instead of the already running applications ? The goal is to resolve a focus issue with Telnet CE and the MSP Agent. We delayed the time to start TelentCE to wait for the MSP Agent startup but as the time is never the same, very difficult to find the right value. The best way should be to have an MSP Agent Startup that does not take the focus (like a silent mode). thanks for your help Regards

Milan, Since this is an SPR, we should end this thread on Dev Central. Standard practice before opening an SPR is for tier II to reproduce the problem. This was also Allan's recommendation. If you've reproduced the problem, please post the steps to the SPR. Ed Rowlance
Erick;
What Ed suggests is unlikely to fix the issue you are seeing. Thet setting he mentions disables the ability for the Device User to bring up the Agent UI. The setting does not affect the startup logic and hence should not alter the behavior of how the Agent UI and interacts with the TE Client regarding focus during start up.
We have never seen the issue you are describing. We may be able to improve the start up logic of the MSP Agent to avoid the situation you are seeing, but we would need to be able to reproduce this issue to be able to do so. Please open a case with the help desk and work with them to be able to reproduce this issue. Once the help desk can reproduce the issue, we can discuss with them whether an SPR or a GRIP is the right way to proceed (based on whether the issue seems to be a bug or a request for an enhancement). Then we can decide when to address this issue. Thanks, Allan
Hi Allan, The case 2106882 has been opened and is @ the EMEA Level 2 support who reproduced the issue. Best Regards
SPR#18617 is opened for this issue. Allan, is it by design that MSP client 7.02.79 is exited without any warning when ESC key is pressed on CE 5.0 terminals (MC3090, VC5090)? E.g. I didn’t see this behavior with MSP client 5.65. Thanks Milan
I found the following on page 13 of the MSP Client Software Guide:
It is possible to configure the MSP Agent so its user interface is disabled. This can be accomplished by configuring the MSP Agent using a Settings Object. Select "Configure MSP Features" and set "Disable UI" to True. This may be useful to prevent Device Users from launching the MSP Agent user interface which could distract from their primary tasks and/or permit them to perform undesirable actions. More detail is provided on page 20 of the same document and on page 70 of the Understanding MSP document.
