The following information is to alert you – The TA community - of a product related issue uncovered with MPA1.5 based MC75 HSDPA configurations featuring 128MB RAM / 512 MB Flash memory (Reference: SPR 18560).

Note:

The issue is isolated to MC7596 configurations featuring 128MB RAM/512MB Flash memory footprint.

The following MC70/MC75 product families and subfamilies are NOT AFFECTED:

MC75A Product Family, includes MC75A6, MC75A8, MC75A0
MC70 Product Family, includes MC7090, MC7004, MC7094, MC7095
MC75X6 and MC75X8 configurations featuring 128MB RAM/256MB Flash memory

Issue:

When a clean boot is performed – for instance, as a result of an OS update or flashing of the clean boot files - on an MC7596 (HSDPA) device with 128MB RAM / 512MB Flash and WM6.1 OS (BSP35), the WAN modem is unable to communicate with the OS. This ultimately causes a device.exe crash to occur approximately 10 minutes after the clean boot is initiated. The device is usable but requires a warm boot for the WAN radio to work properly.

Corrective Action:

Any one of the three actions below can be used to correct this issue:

1) Performing a warm-boot after the clean boot will correct this issue

2) A patch with an updated MUX driver and appropriate registry settings are available on Support Central to correct this issue, see web link below:

3) When available, update to

the Windows Mobile 6.5 OS Maintenance Release (to be released in May 2010) as this OS image does not exhibit this issue; WM6.5 is planned to be posted to Support Central for entitled customers in May 2010 shipping on MPA1.5 based MC75's in July 2010.
