Hi, Can anyone confirm under what circumstance an MC55 will clean boot itself. I have a customer that has experianced several clean boots on the MC55 - usually around removing / replacing the battery. SPR18183 is open for this issue but it would help to understand what may be triggering the device to suspect it has corrupted and then clean boot. Thanks Andy

My customer is also experiencing this issue. Is this a WM6.1 and 6.5 issue?
Hi, MC55 cant cleanboot itself unless cleanboot files are placed in \temp or \storage card and then "startupdldr.exe" to launch Update Loader. You may be referring to either warm boot or cold boot. The device warmboots if the battery is removed and held for too long and put it back. Your recent changes before warmbooting might not have been saved. Corruption meaning the device doesnt boot? How do you say it is corrupted? Thanks, Chandan
Windows Mobile 6.x can perform a persistant wipe (cleanboot) if the persistant store becomes corrupt.
If the operating system detects that the object store is corrupt it will clean boot. You can test this by formatting the system volume - warmboot and it will cleanboot. Some ISV's use this as a method to force a cleanboot without the battery checks...(Please do not advise ISV's to do this). SPR18183 appears to be related to removing the battery - so please advise customers to power off before removing the battery to try and prevent this from happening.
