hi team got a call from partner reporting to Motorola that their customer encountered 100% failure rate w/ our DS9808. Customer bought three DS9808 in early Jan 2010, one unit was repaired in Apr 2010; two units were repaired in May 2010. the reported problems were:- 1.DS9808 decode DataMatrix bar code and gives incorrect data 2.DS9808 unable to store settings such as carriage return, inverse DataMatrix... and the fix by service center was to re-flash the firmware onto the scanner and the reported problems will go away. how can i get hold of this new firmware?

partner found out the problem batch is running software version PAAABS00-003-R00. the repaired scanners and recent batches are running software version PAABS00-005-R00 so if you come across any misbehaving units running ...003-R00, suggest you upgrade it to ...005-R00 or newer version.
The DS9808 firmware can be upgraded in the field using the new 123scan utility which is available as a free download. After installing 123scan there is a function that will confirm you have the latest firmware available for all scanners. The interface is very user friendly, so you should have no trouble working out how to upgrade the firmware of any DS9808 scanner. Note you can upgrade many units at once, although each upgrade can take up to an hour. Good Luck.
