The GSS Server was slipped into the network drawing with no explanation in the MME slides ... The GSN Support Server (GSS) is used to store all backups and check points of the MME. It is driven from the MME side and consists of a UNIX based server (Solaris or Linux). Per the E/// Documents
GSS Server is for file storage , which is owned and managed by the customer but setup according to the GSS requirements from E///
GSS Server runs with a UNIX like OS
GSS Server supports DHCP, FTP, TFTP, and Time serveice (NOTE: These are not all used in the current release)
GSS Server supports the follow operations:
Initial installation of SGSN-MME software
File storage for backup and restore
Software upgrade
In the current release, the GSS server is connected via an OOB network to the FSB. This allows a single GSS server to provide service for several MMEs. This is an improvement from previous versions of the MME code. Hardware Example: Option 1 SunFire v245 Option 2 HP ProLiant DL 360 G4p In the LTE lab, they are currently using a SunFire ... it is unclear which will be used for deployments. Also, per E///, it is possible for the customer to use an existing file server if it meets these general requirements.

Good info, thanks. Let's see if we can find out if there's additional platforms in the EPC that have similar servers associated with them that we're not aware of. These need to be accurately reflected in the SI Configurator (equipment list).
There is a terminal server as well ... I believe that it is a part of our E/// "MME Kit" ... it's on the drawing, but not in the configurator separately... I think that these two are the last remaining pieces that have been hiding ... that excludes OSS however ..
