Hello, Have a question regarding the ability to capture locations of devices via Cell Tower broadcasts. In Australia, cell towers can broadcast their locations, ie suburbs, usually through some messaging system. What we are attempting to know if it can be done, is to be able to somehow interrigate the message via some application we can have written, to grab the current location and then update into a registry location....the aim is to then read this to update into MSP...so we have some way of knowing where a device is. The grey area, is how the broadcast information is received by the device, I dont believe that it is stored in registry, but may be at a lower level, perhaps in the WWAN radio module....so wanting to know if via a Motorola API with an MC75 for instance, it is possible to access the radio module and get this information..... Thanks for any assistance

You use the RIL API to get the cell tower information - RIL_GetCellTowerInfo() I have wrapped this up in SymScript (unsupported) - so you get get notified of a cell ID change. You could then write to the registry. See example WAN_CellIDMonitor.spt.
