For the Cloud Core backhaul, Motorola specifies Sprint’s Global MPLS VPN solution.  It is a Network-Based IP VPN available globally across Sprint’s IP/MPLS backbone.  This Global MPLS solution provides an IP VPN solution with any-to-any intranet connectivity that is highly secure and provides a private means by which to connect the CUSTOMER Local Core site to the Cloud Core Hosting Center sites.

Sprint operates an advanced version of MPLS VPN based on RFC 4364 (formerly 2547bis) delivered over Sprint’s global native IP backbone infrastructure.  Sprint’s IP backbone carries the Cisco Multiservice Network designation, which certifies the network’s performance and capabilities to support multiple time-sensitive applications such as voice and video.

Key features of Sprint’s MPLS VPN solution:

1.      Standards –based: Sprint’s Global MPLS VPN solution is a layer 3 MPLS VPN based on RFC 4364.

2.      Optimum Security:  MPLS VPN security is equivalent to that of other Layer 2 technologies (e.g., Frame Relay).  Customer data is completely segmented from any other entity and data flow is segmented at the Sprint network edge router via virtual routing and forwarding, and again when it traverses across Sprint’s Global IP backbone via secure tunneling.  Sprint’s Global MPLS VPN offering represents a distinct and new network with newly deployed MPLS edge routers.  No component of the Customer’s VPN is visible to unauthorized entities or unauthorized access from the public Internet.

3.      Solution Flexibility:  The Global MPLS VPN offering provides Motorola and its customers with ultimate flexibility when designing and implementing an MPLS VPN solution.  A range of configuration and design elements can be tailored to meet specific network needs and requirements.  These include:  Routing Protocols, IP Addressing, Network Topology, Port Speeds.
