A customer asked the question of adding an item to the desktop on the MC9190 WM6.5 - not the Programs menu, Start Menu, or Startup. And AppCenter is not an option for them. I have registry hacks to remove existing desktop items but have never added an item to the desktop. Any help is greatly appreciated. - Dave

Hi Dave, there is a free app called "Home Screen Customizer" available from "Marketplace" that can do this. I am not sure if the settings can survive a cold boot, however you maybe able to save the settings to the registry using remcapture...
The customer found a book (Programming Microsoft Windows CE, Douglass Boling, 2001) that in Chapter 15 describes how to write custom Today Screen items and is working that angle for now. Thanks to all the suggestions. - Dave
Hi Dave, Basically you have to write a DLL that exports some functions and process some messages. Here you can find some useful resources: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb278109.aspx http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms840690 http://www.microsoft.com/mspress/books/sampchap/5461a.aspx#100 Regards
