Can anyone explain why MC9190G WM65 needs to use Idockit to get an IP address in ethernet cradle? With a MC75A0 and ethernet cradle gets IP address on it's own no Idockit needed.
Charles, This goes back to the MC9050/MC9060 which did not support USB host or On-The-Go mode. The MC9000 Ethernet cradle acts almost like an ActiveSync PC connection to provide network access to the device. Most of the smarts are in the cradle to do the DHCP requests, etc. E-Connect or I-Dockit are needed to handle the connections. There was a recent post by Lance Greer asking for feedback on a cradle redesign that would not be backwards compatible with older MC9000 devices that don't support USB host mode and would then work like the MC75 cradle. Thanks, Ken
