PwnPhone – Nokia N900
The Nokia N900 is bulky with an older style sliding keyboard, 3G cell phone that every wifi hacker should own. It runs the Maemo OS which gives it standard debian style linux capabilities. One essential characteristic for wifi hacking is packet injection, available on the N900, along with a slew of tools such as aircrack-ng, kismet, Grimwepa, wireshark, SSLstrip, SET, Metasploit and more.
The bad news is the aren’t made anymore, but you can get them on e-bay for around $300 or prepackaged with firmware from PwnieExpress for $960. The PwnPhone firmware is available separately and easy to install. It includes the software and some nice GUI shortcuts to limit the required typing.
Creating an evil AP (unencrypted) that phishes clients (karma style), sniffs passwords and sends them on to the internet via the 3G connection is pretty straightforward. If you’re interested in seeing one, I might just have mine with me at NRF next week ;)
