Is there a registry entry that will disable the camera button? We tried
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Pictures\Camera\OEM] "DisableCamera"=dword:1 And we could not capture it as a key input. Has anyone been able to do this? Thanks.

Marc, Try the attached registry key which will disable the button mapping for the camera key but still allow the camera to function. Note that you will need to reboot after installing the key unless it is used as part of a clean boot. Best Regards, Ian Hatton
Thank you Ian Hatton, that worked great. Was curious, do you feel there is any way to disable the Camera button low enough in the hardware stack to prevent a user from doing a OS Image reload using the Power-1-9 --> Camera button?
As long as there are no OS update files on the root of an SD card or in the Temp folder -- even if holding down the camera button on reboot and entering Image Update mode, the device will not find any OS update files -- it will then automatically reboot back into the OS with all files and settings intact.
Hi Marc, I found a previous post from Ian Hatton who provided two XML that would allow you to disable or reenable the camera. The good news here is that I tested it on my ES400 and it worked. Note: Any time you press the camera button you'll get the following message box pop up and say " Remote management policy prohibits the use of the camera feature" when you install the "xmlcameraoff.cab". See original posting from Ian below (Hope this works for you):
Files to enable/disable camera function on WM6 devices
The attached CAB files contain the XML provisioning code required to enable and disable the camera function on the MC75/MC55 etc. The cameraoff .cab file will process the XML code and the device user will be prompted to reboot the unit. Once the unit is rebooted, the camera icon is missing from the Pictures and Videos app and it is not possible to access the camera hardware via an installed application. Cameraoff.cab will restore camera operation after another reboot. This functionality is useful for some customers who will not allow camera-equipped devices on their premises. Cheers, Mark Mann
Thank you for the cab files, the only problem is that the Scanner will not become active in DataWedge with this running. This cab seems to block it. The customer is trying to find out how to disable the specific Camera button. If it had a value of somekind.
