I read a post recently that stated we do not support Android Market applications. The ET1 does not come with a Market shortcut either. Although, my customer wants to run an Application that is listed on Android Market. Their buying decision is based on an application that is found on the Android Market. What are the options we have for customers that want to use these applications, and will take full responsibility for the application running on them?

That sounds GREAT!!! Can you provide information on how to obtain that app? Or attach it to this thread if possible? Thanks a bunch!!!
Install any application of the Android market into the ET1 is quite simple (except "Market"). All that you need to do is download and install the applications using your Android phone and then use any backup utility, such as Astro File Manager choosing the option "Applications Manager". Locate the application, check the mark at the right, and tap the button "backup" This will save the APK files of the applications that you have installed in your phone to the SD card. Then copy these APKs to the ET1's SD and use the file explorer of the ET1 to install Astro and the rest of the applications. You can even use Astro to install new APKs. I have also installed the FTP Server "SwiFTP" in my phone and the FTP Client "AndFTP" in the ET1, so I can copy new apk files into the ET1's SD via wireless. Hope this helps. Regards
Yeah, mine also has the 12.14 version on it and that .apk will not work. Locks up the device...
Some of the Android backup apps will actually save off the apks for you. I've used a (free) app from jrummy16 called Rom Toolbox with an App Manager function that does this - you'll end up with a backup folder on SD with any/all the apks that were installed.
I have an apk for Firefox that seems to work ok. It is version 4 something i think. I found another prior that crashed my unit as well but this one looks ok. I can post it if anyone wants it.
Yes... Please post it!!! Thanks...
ok so now that i said that, i just loaded it again and it has locked up my ET1. However, last time i used it and when my customer tried it, it worked ok. So here it is and see how it works for you. I have a DV unit with build 12.14 on it just for reference. I just loaded it on a 2nd unit and it is working fine. Just make sure you have a wifi connection before opening it.
Also, I had trouble with the firefox browser on ET1, never got it to work. I tried Opera, Dolphin, and Zirco. Opera Mobile was the best of those three.
Thanks for the link... Yeah, FireFox locks the ET1 up, however it's the only one I can find that works with the NTLM authentication to connect to something such as share point. Dolphin, Opera or the stock browser does not support this which is what brought part of this issue up for me and my customer.
Nothing wrong with running the apps, you just need to find a way to get the .apk so you can install it. Try the vendor website directly, Amazon market, google search, contact developer directly etc.
There are a bunch of us running into the same issues concerning this. I have been in contact with the ET1 Product group concerning this and made them aware. I have been unsuccessful in using the Amazon market place, etc. It seems that they are associated with my gmail account and Android phone, so I haven't figured out a way to "divert" the app to the ET1. I have found some .apk files that I was able to download, such at the Opera browser, sometimes if you go to the developers website, they will allow a direct download, other times they point you to one of the market places. I found an .apk file yesterday for the FireFox browser and installed it on the ET1, doing so rendered the ET1 useless, I cannot get FireFox to work, so I'm curious if all .apk files and applications are created equal...
This is a site we used during the beta. Many apps are there. If you decide to use and apk with your customer, you and/or the end user should contact the developer and make sure the license is agreeable to all parties. http://www.freewarelovers.com/android
