Need to know how many customers set Static IP's with 4-slot Ethernet Cradle

As a result of a flash memory change due to the previous chip going EOL, the CRD9000-4001ER (4-slot Ethernet Cradle for MC90xx/MC91xx) is limited to DHCP IP address operation only. On cradles with the EOL flash chip, the cradle was able to be programmed with static IP addresses, if necessary, using the MobileDox software on a PC. Current production of the CRD9000-4001ER which contains the new flash chip can not be programmed using the MobileDox software. Product Management is trying to gauge how many customers may be affected by this limitation and whether they will be able to adapt from a static IP address setup to a DHCP setup for the cradle slot IP addresses. At this time there is no solution to allow static IP addresses without a complete redesign of the cradle.

Mar 8 2012 10:17AM by Perryman, William: Comments: Follett complaining that they now have in access of 200 cradles that they have issues with some bought this fall and some this year. Customer temperature is getting really warm since this has been a known issue for a while and we had no notification to them. What time frame to resolution do we set expectations with? We need something soon.

Has there been any qualified response to this issue?  Another customer, Kaltire has outfitted 290 stores and has raised concern over the inability to assign static IP addresses to the cradles purchased after September 2011. We need a resolution to this issue!

A P1 SPR has been opened for this issue (21554).
