Anybody know why Motorola is not a member of the Broadband Wireless Alliance  for Next Generation Hotspot ?  Some call it Hotspot 2.0/Passpoint for 3G offload. Cisco is making it an issue against us.  Aruba, Meru, Ruckuss, HP , Xirrus, d-link are members.

I understand but  if is quite hard to change the customer's perception since all of our Major competitors are members except for us.  If we could give an 802.11u whitepaper document or any document to  justify us being a non-member. It would be much appreciated by the customer.

Cisco is just trying to put up a smoke screen.  WBA has nothing to do with Passpoint.  That is a trademarked term by Wi-Fi, and “Hotspot 2.0” is the internal Wi-Fi name for their Task Groups.  Motorola Solutions is and continues to be a board member of the Wi-Fi Alliance, and through our history with Symbol Technologies was a founding member of the organization. Citing WBA (who have no say or input into the Passpoint program) is nothing but FUD.    CSH
