Connecting to Oracle database

Customer used to use own appl.developed in .NET for MC9190 CE6  with MS SQL in such a way that service SQL was installed on the terminal and this way they could connect easily to MSSQL database.

Now they want to connect to Oracle database (read and send data to Oracle database). What is the substitution for MSSQL if there is no instance of MSSQL service?

Thanks Roland

Roland,  I think there are at least a couple of possible solutions here: a) connect to the existing Oracle database via either ODBC or Web services depending upon which is available and/or preferred. b) implement the Oracle Database Mobile Server ( http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/products/database-mobile-server/overv…) which supports WinCE clients and provides the sync support between client and server as per Oracle's statement 'One of the benefits of Oracle Database Mobile Server is that you can have an application downloaded onto a device, where data can be synchronized between the device and the back-end Oracle database. When you install the mobile client, Oracle Database Mobile Server installs the Sync Engine and Device Manager' Best Regards, Ian Hatton
