Team, A customer who has been using MC 9090s tested their application on an MC 9190.  This application requires action if the ENTER key is pressed.  However, when the ENTER key is pressed on the MC 9190, it does not trigger the expected action. Has anyone run into a similar issue?  If so, how was it resolved? Thanks. Mario

I believe the attached utility allows you to see what is being sent when a key is hit. By installing it on an MC9090 and then an MC9190 you can probably tell what is being generated by the return key...then support can assist with a keboard map file

Mario, The customer indicated it was their custom app, however they did not state if it was a Web app.  We have seen this with Web apps in the new IE Mobile browser.  It can be fixed. The IE Mobile browser on the 9190 uses MS HTML and it is set to “1” in the registry.  It behaves differently than the older devices in Microsoft’s effort to be more like a Smart Phone OS.   However, it has caused the browser to behave differently as well as different font presentations and menus.  It has confused many, including yours truly.

In order to fix it, luckily a REGISTRY setting can revert the on-board IE Mobile back to the ‘good old days’.  I have started calling this the ‘magic reg setting’, because it fixed so many issues we were seeing when people went from the earlier OS to the new one.

To do this, you need to create a text file and name it Mshtml.REG or anything with a .REG extension.

Copy and paste this into the file then save it:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Internet Explorer]

"MSHTML"=dword:00000000

Copy the REG file to the device in the Application directory.  Go to the device and tap it, it will popup confirmation that you wish to merge the setting.  IE needs to be restarted and it is usually running in the background.  To initiate the setting, Reboot the device, OR you can go the Task Manager and kill IE.  When you launch IE with this new setting the RETURN key will behave like it used to.

Check "Hot Fixes " for the MC9190 there was a new KBTOOL released for the MC9190 There are a lot of other Hot Fixes which may apply depending on your configuration.  According to the BU there should be a "super cab"  released next week incorporating many of the Hot Fixes. Be sure to check the Fusion version, use ...025R

Mario, If you are using wavelink with 5250 emulation, then you may need to activate the "Enter key swapped" setting.  It is located under Emulation Params>Emulation>5250 and 3270>5250>"Enter Key Swapped"  = Yes. Hope this helps. Mike
