Date: 1/8/13 - 2:30pm Product: MC45 OS: 1.09.414 Customer: Pepsi Case#: 2756817
Pepsi is asking for a description of the files included in the osudpate package for a MC45.
“Please identify all files in the OS Update and what they are for, all the files, even the ones that are 20MB and not listed it he PKGS.LST file. ”
In the airbeam package and the PKG.lst, only lists 4 files. My assumption was those files were library and driver files which is embedded in airbeam but customer is not satisfied with that answer.
Pkg.lst & airbeam package contain
modem.smb
partition.mbn
FLASH.bin
CleanAppl.bin
Osupdate package contains
modem.smb
partition.mbn
FLASH.bin
CleanAppl.bin
amss.mbn
amsshd.mbn
apps.mbn
appsboothd.mbn
appshd.mbn
NPRG7627.hex
Oemsbl.mbn
Oemsblhd.mbn
Partition.mbn
Qcsbl.mbn
Qcsblhd_cfgdata.mbn
MC45_20120809_v3.5.jbc
This isn’t an uncommon request for explanation of these file for other devices/ OS’s ..
Can a general description of these files be provided so it can send it to the customer?
If not possible, perhaps a give general description of mbn files, smb and bin files may be an acceptable response to his question.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thank you for your response.
Normal SD card image update only needs those 4 files.
partition.mbn – Partition Table
modem.smb – Modem Firrmware
FLASH.bin – Windows Mobile 6.5 Image
CleanAppl.bin - blank Application partition file
The rest of files are used by separate USB image download tool from IAC in case the standard SD card image update method can't be used for some reason. Since the SD card method always works, there is no need for the customer to concern about what other files are. Both methods achieve the same result, OS and modem firmware update. IAC provides both files for Moto use, not for customer, as a normal release image.
