Hi Team, I have a hospital that is having challenges scanning a baby anklet barcode band with the DS6878-HC in a isolette (baby NICU humidity controlled germ protected enclosure) used in natal ICU. The challenge is scanning through the 1/4" plexiglass where there also may be condensation build up.  Have any of you experienced this concern/inquiry, and what was your resolution? They are also unable to use the DS6878-HC inside the isolette as they are comparing it to the mothers womb ... even with disinfectant and wipe down, they do not want to risk introducing any germs to the littlest, tiniest, frailest babies. They have asked if we are aware of any disposable covers or sleeves. We have shared that some have used the clear plastic sandwich bags (zip lock type) where care is taken to make sure the plastic bag is flush and not wrinkled at the scan window. Have any of you experienced this concern/inquiry, and what was your resolution? Thanks for your help with this. Paul.

Paul,         It appears that the environment is not barcode friendly given the plexiglass and moisture promoting optical distortion.  If the program could be adjusted to consider RFID, then that would be the preffered solution for this environment. The DS9808-R would provide the hybrid barcode scanning and RFID reading.

Reply, Any chance that the solution has two identical barcodes.  One for the baby and the other on the enclosure? Cheers, Mark
