you best option is to start from the FingerPrint reader SDK and build a native extension around it, exposing the functionality you need in your app.
If this accessory use the Serial Port to communicate with the device you have an alternative solution the involve using the Comm API.
You can find a proof of concept on how to talk with a TSL RFID reader on my github repository.
The repository contains a small Comm object polyfiller that makes possible to test the app in Chrome DevTools.
We plan to use the fingerprint scanner provided by Motorola Solutions. Do you know if this snap on uses the Serial Port (from the MC75A)? Thus, that way we can use the Comm API from Rhomobile.
