the two licenses are not compatible.
In motorola solutions and through our distributors network we've different SKU for the two products, one for v2.x and one for v4.x.
If you've a valid maintenance contract, you can request a new license code to our technical support:

I just opened a case with support and have been told that even though I have purchased a maintenance contract I have to repurchase licenses for ver 4.
Here's the reply I received:
Ok, as per the Sales team there
is no upgrade even with a maintenance contract on RhoElements from 2 to 4, and
that v4 licenses must be purchased. Do you have your reseller’s info so
you can purchase them?

Has anyone had a similar experience when moving to Rhoelements 4? Or have you been able to upgrade your licenses.
After spending over $7k on V2 RhoElements licenses and over $5k on maintenance contracts on those licenses it doesn't seem plausible that there is no upgrade path, especially since some of those licenses were purchased only months ago and have yet to be deployed. Can anyone from Motorola clarify the upgrade policy and explain what the maintenance contract is for if it doesn't cover software assurance?
