Dear colleagues at the RFID BU.

Just to let you know that in our region (Benelux) , and i expect also in the other EU countries, we have severe competition from the Scandinavian company Nordic ID (Nordic ID) , especially for the RFID handheld terminals. They are compeltey focused on RFID and recently we have been beaten in a one to one comparison against their latest (modified/improved) Merlin. Nordic ID - Products.

During this comparison (together with Checkpoint, that really wanted to help us and also showed us the Merlin and its performance) we experienced that their latest Merlin is much faster and more sensitive in reading 100-200 RFID tags spread out over the table but also in real environments (300-400 items in a Box and hanging garments. (I have some videos available if you are interested).

We have tested with our MC3190Z and RFD5500 with latest firmware and optimized Settings.

we suspect that Nordic ID is pushing other potential customers to do these tests.

In spite of the fact that the Merlin looks Bulky and Ugly it reads great, their Locator works much better than ours (Faster/more accurate, it feels more in Balance than our MC55/RFD5500 and it feels lighter than our MC3190Z (Feedback from an experienced Checkpoint RFID specialist).

We really need detailed Silver Bullets based on in depth comparison tests by our RFID engineers in other to win most of the projects of this very focused and dedicated competitor.
