Authenticating RSS Feeds

I see that the Launchpad offers RSS Feeds for most of the community places, and I am interested in using them.  This all works fine and dandy for places that do not require authentication, but I would like to access a private section.  In the instructions for connecting to RSS Feeds on this site it says, "For private spaces, you'll need to append your username and password to the feed URL or use a desktop feed reader that supports private feeds."  But there is no explanation on how to do this.  I tried logging out and navigating to the RSS Feed I desire to connect to, but it will not accept my username or password even though I have access.

Can someone help me figure out how to connect to the RSS Feeds available here on the launchpad?

Thanks.

Hi Jon-Luke, I moved this question to the Launchpad help section.  I'm afraid we don't know much on the printer pages besides printers.
